SAVE THE DATE <<<<< to shop small>>>>>>> November 26, 2015 08:59

Sandwiched between Black Friday and Cyber Monday is a special shopping day known as Small Business Saturday. This day is meant to patronize brick and mortar businesses that are locally owned in your neighborhoods and the small towns around you.

Did you know that if each one of us savvy shoppers spent just $100 a year more on local businesses instead of big box chain stores, it would put an extra $3 million a year into our economy, not only that but it would keep alive the mom and pop stores, encourage new entrepreneurship and host more job opportunities in our towns? Wow, what an impact we could have!
We invite you to shop small this holiday season, whether it be with us at AB Surf Shop or any of the great businesses near you, let's stand together and shop like we mean it!  ((Shop our look by calling to get your hands on one of these sweet local tees!))

As a special treat we will be hosting our 3rd annual "Locals Night" event on Thursday, December 10th from 6-9 pm.  We will be highlighting 2 special North Carolina small businesses that evening including handmade jewelry from Harper Vintage Jewelry and Sweetie Pie Jewelry. Our event also captures a taste from Promise' Land Market, a downtown Morehead City treat! Promise' Land Market will be providing tastings of their mouth watering cheeses and wines! If that wasn't enough, we will be having a surprise store-wide sale to help you check off your "Santa" shopping list! We hope to see you there!

Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours!  We will reopen Friday at 9:00 am.

How To Stylishly Pull Off Thanksgiving November 21, 2015 22:20

Whether you are hosting family at your home this Thanksgiving or traveling on turkey day, we have you covered from head to toe on the best all day look. Ladies…let keep it wrinkle free and feminine. (Don’t worry we will leave room for the extra dessert!)

Leggings….yes you heard me right! Leggings are our closet’s best kept secret weapon. I am not talking about cheap, thin or workout leggings; I am talking the blackest black, sculpting, dress them up leggings. Now that the foundation has been laid lets layer on our top options. An over-sized chunky sweater and dainty heels are super girly but don’t forget you may get warm cooking those golden brown rolls and sipping wine. For something a little cooler, let’s try a tunic style blouse and pretty flats. Still not sure what to wear, pull out your tried and true raven sweater and booties. The hardest part about this outfit is choosing which color Raven to wear (because we all have half a dozen)

Remember it is all about ease or wear and ease of care, you don’t want to spill something on any of your silks so keep them safely in your closet and opt for a machine washable fabric instead. You may be cooking, driving or playing tag with the little ones so comfort is key, and fabrics that are wrinkle free like sweaters and leggings make that effortless look oh so easy! With outfits this easy, Thanksgiving might be your new favorite Holiday! Happy Thanksgiving Y’all!

Accessory of the Season: Blanket Scarf November 01, 2015 23:21

Styling your blanket scarf

“The how to on the accessory of the season”

Scarves have always been the perfect add on to layering a fall outfit. It is easy, versatile and best of all doesn’t need to be ironed! It might sound crazy but, yes there is a wrong way to wear scarves. We don’t want you to get caught in such a predicament so we have outlines some great ways to incorporate the iconic blanket scarf into your fall wardrobe.

The Original

Let’s make a statement! Fold your blanket scarf corner on corner to create a triangle. Drape the triangle at the front of your body and criss-cross the tails of the scarf around your neck and bring the back to the front. You should now have 3 corners facing out and making that statement you were looking for. Add a vest and pair with a pair of pearl earrings for the best fall fashion.

The Trend Setter

For the most impact on your outfit turn this over-sized scarf into a poncho! Fold the scarf corner on corner again and drape over your shoulders. Belt at the natural waist and "wah lah" you are ready to go! We added even more pizzazz by creating some glam with our gold tassel belt.

All Knotted Up

If you want the color and detail of the blanket scarf but you don’t want it to overpower your outfit, tie one on over your chambray top, add some black denim and booties and you will be all set! To create that tied up look simply create the original look from above with the 3 triangles out front. Take both of the outer triangles and loop them inside of the neck hole and pull through tightening up the gap.

The Easy Way Out

Too much knotting and tying have you ready to lose the scarf…fret no more! The infinity blanket scarf is just too easy. If you are layering a jacket for a tailgate or just need to stay warm there are no instructions here, just wear it as a single loop long like styled above or double it up if you are feeling brave!

If you don’t yet have a blanket yet, you must add it to your wish list and come shopping! With so many options the hard part might be deciding whether you need the regular or infinity blanket scarf…or even both! See you in the store soon!

To Cuff or Not To Cuff... October 07, 2015 06:00

How many times do we ask ourselves this question when we are getting ready? You just purchased new booties or you’re trying to stay stylish in the rain with your rubber boots, the mystery is how do you wear them? We have the skinny on your jeans and how to style them with the most loved fall fashion piece…the bootie!

The magic formula: Roll your skinny jeans (no boot cut or flares please!) so the hem just barely hits the top of your boots exposing some leg (wink wink!)

Style 1: Over the ankle booties

For boots like these black Toms suede wedges that cover the ankle, we suggest one big roll about 2 -3 inches creating a single cuff allowing only about a ¼ inch at most of skin to show.

Style 2: The “Duck” Boot

If you are looking to wear those duck boots you finally got your hands on, we suggest a double roll hiding the hem of the jean completely.  This roll should be between 1-2 inches.  You will want to ensure that no more than about a half inch of skin is showing so you stay dry and fabulous!

Style 3: Low profile bootie

The feminine detail of the scallop edging on this Jack Roger bootie is dainty and shouldn’t be hidden. Keep it sleek and opt for the ankle jeans or even the cropped ones so that no folding is required.  (hint: cropped jeans are easier to tuck into your riding boots too! ) Don’t expose too much, nobody likes ‘high-waters’.

No matter your style keep it fresh with a pair of booties this fall! Short and tall we love them all at Atlantic Beach Surf Shop.
